Chloes Chemoo Cows

When Chloe was diagnosed last September the team at Clic Sargent immediately referred her to the make a Wish foundation. Make a Wish grant magical wishes to children and young people fighting life threatening illnesses and Lesley-Ann, our Clic Sargent Social Worker, felt this was something appropriate to Chloe.

Initially Chloe was not interested in taking part, she felt this was for very sick children and that she didn't deserve to be involved, and how wrong she was! After much convincing and having endured extensive radiotherapy and other hospital treatment, Chloe was finally excited about the prospect of having her wish granted.

Chloe had always had a keen interest in clothes and design, and asked to be a 'Fashion Designer' for the day. Make a Wish pulled out all the stops contacting one of Chloe's favourite stores New look, and arranging a whole host of treats including a trip on the London Eye, a visit to Madame Tussauds and tickets to see Wicked.

Prior to the visit, New look asked if we could send them some of Chloe's designs but we had no idea what they'd planned to do with them!

We had a great day at New Look, including a tour of all the design rooms; bags, shoes and jewellery galore, Chloe was in her element! She then got to work at her own desk designing and accessorising her own shoes, bag and tops to take home. Not only were Mark and I impressed with her capabilities, the staff at New Look thought she was very talented for an 11 year old!

A cupcake themed lunch and a first look at the new trends that were about to hit the shops was the icing on the cake, but then New Look surpassed themselves.

Chloe was totally thrilled to be presented with three of her original designs that the New Look team had had custom made, in her size, from her drawings! Her white and spotty dress with a tulle underskirt and spaghetti straps, her blue ra-ra skirt featuring a cup-cake print and lastly her t-shirt featuring her cupcake design, topped with a butterfly that represented her daily sticker for radiotherapy!

One of the designers, impressed with Chloe's cup-cake t-shirt design, casually mentioned selling it in their shops, of course she agreed, not thinking it would amount to anything.

Two weeks later Chloe signed over the rights of her design and realised her dream of being a fashion designer! The t-shirt was a huge success!

Chloe was featured in many newspaper articles, which you can read below.
